Callbacks - by invitation only - will be held on Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 - 6pm - 9:30pm.
A second round of callbacks may be held on Thursday, February 16th, 2012 if necessary.

Actors are asked to prepare a short monologue of no more than 3 minutes, showcasing their ability to act vocally and physically in the style of the show. Please arrive having read the play and be prepared to read from the script. Sides will be provided.
ALL ETHNICITIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO AUDITION.

*Sarah Good & Hopkins are expected to be doubled by Mrs. and Mr. Putnam respectively unless someone specifically wishes to be considered exclusively for this role.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will begin Monday, February 20th, 2012 and will typically run Monday-Thursday from 7:00pm-10pm with some possible weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun) Rehearsals as needed.
Performances:
Fridays - Sundays, April 13th - May 6th, 2012.
Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm
The Costa Mesa Playhouse is a non-union theater and does not pay.
The following roles are open for casting. Please note, age ranges are provided purely for reference to each other and ARE NOT an indication of how old a performer must be. We would rather have people of any age who can reasonably and believably play the role(s) than get caught up trying to cast exclusively by the book.

John Proctor: (30’s) Strong, Vulnerable, an Independent Thinker, conflicted with a sense of self-hatred and righteousness. An honest man, having made a mistake, torn apart with guilt.

Abigail Williams: (Late Teens) Orphaned niece of the Rev. Parris. Must be very good actress, capable of switching rapidly and smoothly to extremes.

Rev. John Hale: (Early 40s) An Intellectual minister, self-important, concerned with finding the truth.

Rev. Samuel Parris: (40s) Fire & Brimstone preacher, paranoid, self-serving.

Elizabeth Proctor: (Late 20s – early 30s) The wife of John Proctor, proud, cold, sympathetic – has suffered a prolong illness recently;

Mary Warren: (Late Teens) Subservient, naïve, lonely, a follower.

Dep. Gov. Danforth: (60s) Believes in the infallibility of his own moral judgment.

Judge Hawthorne: (40 – 60) A Bitter, remorseless, Salem Judge who zealously supports the deputy governor.

Tituba: (30-40’s) Rev. Parris’ slave, native of Barbados.

Betty Parris: (Young Teens) Rev. Parris’ daughter.

Ann Putnam: (40’s) A Twisted soul, tormented by the infant deaths of seven of her children.

Thomas Putnam: ( 40’s) Vindictive. The wealthiest man in the village.

Rebecca Nurse: (60-70’s) A pious, wise old woman, admired for her sensitivity & intelligence.

Giles Corey: (70-80’s) Opinionated, stubborn, nothing gets by him.

Francis Nurse: ( 60’s and up) Elderly husband of Rebecca Nurse, well-respected.

Ezekiel Cheever: (30 – 60) Marshall of the court, eager to please.

Susanna Walcott: (mid-teens) Friend of Abigail & Betty.

Mercy Lewis: (mid-teens) Friend of Abigail & Mercy.
